In exchange for the Au-Pair’s help, the host family provides:

  • treatment like a family member (bigger daughter/son) and participation in the families’ life – the Au-Pairs are not experienced housekeepers/qualified governesses and cannot be treated like convenient cleaners/servants;
  • their own big enough, furnished room with bathroom, good heating, lighting and ventilation;
  • eating with the family every day – the Au-Pair receives the same food as the rest of the family;
  • pocket money at the amount of minimum 265-340 Euro (depending on the country) which are payable weekly;
  • medical insurance in case of illness (the applicants must be in good mental and physical health when they arrive, which is proven by a medical report) and insurance against accidents;
  • paid 14-day leave for every 6 months of work in the family;
  • the host family can take the Au-Pair on their vacations, provided they pay for their hotel, food, and travel expenses;
  • free time – a minimum of 1,5 days per week; at least two of the days off in a month must be on a Sunday;
  • opportunity to attend a language course and help in the choice of such; the host family must secure the transport to the language school for the Au-Pair (public transport card, own car);
  • some families cover the fee for the language course/ part of it or the Au-Pair’s travel expenses;
  • possibility of trips, visiting of galleries, museums and entertainment, etc.;
  • possibility to profess their religion by attending church services, etc.
